Description:
Door of Hope, a magazine founded by Haralan Popov to bring attention to the plight of persecuted Christians in communist countries, began publication in 1972. Haralan Popov (1907-1988) served as an Assemblies of God pastor in Bulgaria from 1929 until 1948, when he was arrested on charges of treason. He was imprisoned for 13 years, was released from prison in 1961, and moved to Sweden, where his family had settled. He later moved to America. He founded a missions organization, Evangelism to Communist Lands, in 1970. In about 1984, Evangelism to Communist Lands changed its name to Door of Hope International and expanded its mission to serve persecuted Christians in all countries.
