Description:
The first church to bear the name Pentecostal Holiness Church was organized in North Carolina in 1898 by A. B. Crumpler. Crumpler formed a denomination by that name in 1900. The name was changed to Holiness Church in 1901. After the group identified with the Pentecostal movement in 1908, the name was changed back to Pentecostal Holiness Church. The Fire-Baptized Holiness Church merged into the Pentecostal Holiness Church in 1911, forming what is now the International Pentecostal Holiness Church. This collection includes the 1901 and 1902 disciplines of the Holiness Church, the 1908 discipline of the Pentecostal Holiness Church, and the 1897 discipline of the Holiness Church (Donaldson, GA), which was used as a model for the discipline adopted by Crumpler's group.
