White Wing Messenger, the official magazine of the Church of God of Prophecy, began publication in 1923. The founding editor, A. J. Tomlinson, previously served as general overseer of the Church of God (Cleveland, TN). That body experienced division and Tomlinson formed a new body in 1923, also known as the Church of God. Tomlinson’s group was renamed Church of God of Prophecy in 1953.
